There were 2000 people on Ukrainian party.

NTU will sue one Russian company for broadcasting Eurovision in the cable network

RTR broadcasted Eurovision at the same time with NTU in Ukrainian cable network which is prohibited by law.
On the official press conference it's been announced that NTU will sue RTR and they will demand to cancel RTR's right to broadcast via Ukrainian cable network. Basically their license will be taken.





FINALLY. Imho this should be stopped. It's amazing how certain channels lay sh*t and continue violating Ukrainian laws.

About the НАРОДНИЙ АРТИСТ title, didn't Danylko get it after ESC 2007? I'm sure i heard something to the extent..

About its significance. It's meant to distinguish people who contributed extensively to Ukrainian culture, it's a lifelong contribution thing like the Nobel Prize. This is why many people are outraged at what's going on now. Not just with Kirkorov. People LIKE him, yeah, but that doesn't mean he made a lifelong contribution, a permanent and strong and positive impact on Ukrainian culture and art. Of course, as yuo say, many people nowadays don't give a flying f/ck about the title - exactly BECAUSE it's status went down considering the people who have been getting it lately. And it's obvious with the naked eye that this is all because of the president's enthusiasm. He's got a knack for giving out medals and awards (including to some extremely odious figures in Ukrainian politics - Kirkorov is the least of the evils here)
But the thing about medals and awards is, if they are not given out on merit, they start to depreciate. That's why the title of People's Artist became devalued.
Ukraine is certainly NOT only for people who contributed something to Ukraine (i didn't say anything CLOSE to this - because i feel quite the opposite), but that award most certainly IS.
