If a another broadcaster not take over then Sweden will not take part in JESC 2008!

There's actually a small chance that the UK will return, I've been in contact with the representitives of an EBU member station (that is neither the BBC nor ITV) who are kinda looking into it, although I wouldn't hold your breath yet. If anything looks likely then I'll write an article for ESCtoday!

Nah it's quite an unusual one, it's a regional channel... (like NDR represent Germany at ESC, even though they're a regional broadcaster)

OMG, how many western countries are now left without Sweden?

To me it really seems like JESC is going downhill. IMO the quality of the songs the last few years have been terribly low. 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 did all have great entries, but what happened to 2007?!!? :thumbsdown

If Denmark and Spain participated again, JESC would be so much more interesting. I still can't believe we got 12 points from Macedonia in 2005. We aren't used to get points from Macedonia.

Sorry for going off-topic, but the memories still remains.

To be honest, my only memory of JESC was in 2005 when Belarus won......which was the worst song IMO....

Yes, that was awful. Can't believe children all over europe liked that song. Belarus 2006 was a great entry, but unfortunately Russia won that year with an horrible jazz-duet.

So many crabby winners the last couple of years, exept of Croatia 2003 and Spain 2004.

Then I want EDC to go, then they should scrap that Talent Contest idea....and then we're left with good old mother Eurovision 8)

JESC can still be saved, but there's a long way to go if they don't want it to become one big failure. The first three years were actually quite entertaining and had a lot of great entries.

But just scrap EDC. I don't care at all about dance, so ther's nothing to lose there.

Michael has posted an article on esctoday.com saying that S4C wants to be the UK broadcaster, and wants to send Welsh language songs...

I really hope the Welsh broadcaster enters jesc! They would be awesome!!
Dance contest.. sounds crap. who cares. jesc on the other hand, really good!!
2007 was a weird year, they were more professional, but not so exciting/good, but some were good. I liked Bulgaria.

A welsh broadcaster sounds very exiting. I don't think that they will come up with something better than the entries UK usually send. UK 2003 was awsome, and it should've won the contest that year. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to see a welsh broadcaster giving JESC a chance. :)

2007 was the worst year. IMO they sounded very unprofessional, and the quality of the songs were on a very very low level. I've seen all the entries on youtube, as DR is not broadcasting it anymore, and it simply dissapointed me how weak and bad the songs was.

I took interest in JESC when it started but it's just gone downhill that I haven't followed it since 2005 don't really care about it and I'd prefer it to be scrapped. I would welcome the ESC performing age to be lowered to say 14 if it meant JESC would be scrapped.

Yup,it's true.It was a good idea at the beggining, but now really lost it's charm. While Netherlands really hosted an amazing contest,as well as Romania and Belgium,we saw how actually ex-sssr countries are dominating in contest, and always the country that performs last is the winner.

I think Serbia will also withdraw, there is absolutely no interest for JESC here, even despite our great placements.

IMO it's a big shame that we withdrawed from the contest.

The JESC-interest is VERY big in Denmark, the children love this contest. Especially MGP is still really big. But DR withdrawed from JESC and there's nothing to do about that. I hope we'll return some day again and make it to a higher level.

Before the MGP winner qualified automatically to JESC, and now it's MGP Nordic. I don't watch it anymore, only if we'd return to JESC, but that will only happen if some of our other broadcasters will take over from DR.

DR created this contest and came up with the whole idea of JESC. Unfortunately the contest is now getting destroyed..it's sad.

I think it was a mistake to start with. The UK had some good placings and im suprised we pulled out tbh but when I watched it always seemed very tacky and unprofessional. I must say im a fan of the Eurovision Dance Contest but we have shows similar to that on our tv every week I suppose.
