Re: Morocco 2008

To some of you, this may be quite a shock after you have read this, but according to 'Answers' website, Morocco (along with Italy, Luxembourg, Azerbaijan, and Tunisia), were in talks with the EBU to participate in ESC 2007. However, they missed the deadline to take part. They will most likely take part in ESC 2008. Italy will be granted automatic qualification into the final as part of the 'Big 5' - yes that's right 5 (I know - I was confused when I read it). Also Lebanon will be trying again in 2009 (as the EBU have banned them until then.

More details on my posting titled 'Big Changes for Eurovision 2008 - What on Earth is going on?'. Vote on the poll too if you like.

Morocco are legible to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, as they are active members of the EBU. Any counrty who has a broadcasting station as an 'Active Member' can take part in Eurovision (seeing as the contest itself is all about coutnries within the EBU area coming together as 'one').

The following counrties are 'Active Members' and can take part if they so choose. (Verified from the EBU website - ebu.ch/members/members_active.php)

Albania; Algeria; Andorra; Armenia; Austria
Belarus; Belgium; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Bulgaria
Croatia; Cyprus; Czech Republic
Denmark
Egypt; Estonia
Finland; FYR Macedonia; France
Georgia; Germany; Greece
Hungary
Iceland; Ireland; Israel; Italy
Jordan
Latvia; Lebanon; Libya; Lithuania; Luxembourg
Malta; Moldova; Monaco; Montenegro; Morocco
Netherlands; Norway
Poland; Portugal
Romania; Russia
San Marino; Serbia; Slovakia; Slovenia; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland
Tunisia; Turkey
Ukraine; United Kingdom
Vatican State

the situation is really shizophrenic right now..;

Morocco has nothing to do with Europe ; and for that reason i don't like they should participate.

When that's my point; also Israel and Turkey should be banned for this competition...

EBU should make things clear. Or they make clear rules ; or it becomes a jungle , and it seems they are affraid to make a choice in it; because once a country has participated , it's not "nice" to ban them in future...

If they will continue with turkey and israel , they should allow whateverwhat country in world; and finally stop to call it Esc; if not ; even australia and lesotho are worth an entry..

imho : stop the madness, so , no Turkey , no Israel , no Georgia , no Armenia , no Morroco and so on ; OR , change the name to something else; right now, it's too confusin' and hypocrit

only my 2 cent to this topic :P

furthermore 8) ; if morroco would participate , i can garantue an eternal 12 points from Belgium

when this stupid way of televoting remains, it will be so predictable... count the immigrants of a country , and you got his votes
so f.i.

Belgian BIG points will alway go to Turkey , Morroco, Armenia and so on; i'm really disgusted by this situation. Countries with low emmigration will always be in an disadvantaged situation , which is not all honest...

at the end, countries shall boycot this , from original beautifull idea, because of this annoyin' situation...

Currently the goverment says whether they can take part or not. However, 2M TV wants to be an EBU member and would not need approval from goverment to take parrt.

Keep It European

Postby simon2710 on Tue Nov 20, 2007, 21:47

I don't think we should make it world wide that would be trying to change history sure though, it would be a massive step forward but think of how long it would take to communicate with each country (after all there is 193 countries around the world!).
I say keep it European and strictly European. I think we should only allow the countries that are in the European union to enter (this includes Israel and Russia). But hey there we go again - Politics in Eurovision!

i think every country of the world should take part in Eurovision, and the name should change to Cosmovision, or Terravision!!!

i've once heard that in 2010 they are thinking to make eurovision worldwide and let countries from other continents participate 8)

The USA had once thought of launching a similar Contest among the 52 [or whatever!] States... They were jealous of us

^But it would be great to see arabian countries in the ESC. the turkish/arabian/persian/indian/israeli etc music is MagniFiceNt!!!:p
anatolian music is my fave!!! :D
there will be then a great competition between slavic/east-block countries Vs arabian/turkish countries, whose both music is awesome IMO. :)

8)
i am ruslana and these are the wild energy!:p

lol, they can't bring the same magic to their contest as the magic in ESC. Well, maybe you should let them participate in ESC, and see what happens. I'd bet if they have a bad result they won't participate in the contest anymore. An exiting thought with USA in ESC, but I hope they won't participate.
