I'd prefer to have a new theme instead of a 2nd edition for an already used one.

In Oldies we only have decades till 2000? So only '80s and 90's are left?

I suppose after 90s we could have 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 etc.

as far as i know 90s is propably split into 2 and anything from 2000s isnt propably used

The next themed spinoff, which will hopefully start tomorrow, is the second edition of the TV and Movie Themes Spinoff

I have PMed the first potential host, the winner of the last themed spinoff, Rotterdamus
So hopefully, they'll be able to reply soon. If not, I will ask around for another host (or maybe even take it on myself )

This Movie Spinoff is going to be a liittle longer than the other spinoffs, mainly because we need to give our AATW host time to get back from holiday But this can also give other people going on holiday a chance to take part as the deadline will be longer (the first post will be updated with new dates so you can see when this one starts and ends).

So, hope you enjoy sending and listening to great songs and themes from TV shows and films!

Actually, the time period to choose is up to the host, and there's quite a bit of freedom with what you can choose
I think it was coincidence that up to now, the hosts always chose the next decade chronologically
But yeah, Oldies can also include 50s, 2000s, even the classical eras It's mostly up to the host (though some time periods are broader)

*You can NOT use any song from the soundtrack. I shall stress this, you can NOT. Mood music from the background can not be used, and some famous song only used in one scene included in the soundtrack to sell or fill out the end credits is also a nono.

But what if the mood music is easily itentifiable as the theme of a certain movie?

This movie/tv songs spinoff, can the song be any song that has ever been in a movie/tv show? Or does it have to be the movies/tv main theme song. (Like "I'll be there for you" is to Friends)

Also about the soundtrack thing.......Aren't all songs in a movie put onto the soundtrack anyway? As long as the song actually appears in the movie is it ok? I'm really confused about what's allowed and what isn't.

Can the song be a cover of a movie theme song? I don't remember seeing anything about this in the information topic

I ask this because the song I have in mind isn't very.......musical but the cover is very musical and has more of a beat.

Still I might end up picking something completly different as I haven't really decided on anything yet....

With a new theme about to start, the poll is up once again

There's a new system in the selection of the themed spinoffs, as having 8 songs at once was proving to be a bit too much, and also there was a clear voting advantage to spinoffs that had already been done
(as proved by Idol being the joint favourite when it was the only spinoff-repeat, and then Movie winning the next time, whilst Idol suddenly lost votes)

So, for the spinoff polls, there will now be an alternating group of 4 themes each, the most popular ones/repeats on one poll, the new ideas and underrated themes on the other poll. This will hopefully give a better opportunity for the themes that have been ignored to win the poll. After each poll, certain themes will be promoted/relegated between the two groups, but I won't go into those details (unless you're really curious).

So anyway, this poll is a selection of the four 'minor', or underrated themes in the past few polls, so hopefully they'll get a better opportunity with less options competing. So, please start voting for your favourite

And if you have any new spinoff ideas, or suggestions/comments on how the system is going currently, please post them in this thread!
