How were your holidays, well some holidays are yet to come.
Today I planned on a short, well not so short lesson about adjectives. And you all know what adjectives are.
Adjectives are words that help in description of a noun or a general situation.
for example: I stared at the blue sky. Here blue is an adjective.
So types of color are adjectives, feelings (happy, hungry, sad, confused) or others like: old, young, creative, ideal, etc...
Adjectives in Macedonian language are directly linked to the thing of which we are describing/talking about. It is not like in the English.
The adjectives in Macedonian language change its form when you talk about masculine, feminine, middle or plural.
Lets explain with example:
red - crven
1) For masculine:
- Kompjuterot e crven ---> The computer is red
*** Well we know that computer is a masculine, so its adjective will be masculine, i.e. take the form to describe the masculine noun.
2) For feminine:
- Tashnata e crvena ---> The bag is red
Tashna - bag, its a feminine noun so in order the adjective to take the feminine form, we'll add "a" on the end
3) Middle
- Kucheto e crveno ----> The dog is red
* I think now you get the point
4) Plural
- Jaknite se crveni ----> The jackets are red.
So let us sumarize it in a table:
red - crven
masc. --> crven
fem. ---> crvena
mid. ---> crveno
plu. ----> crveni
Lets try with more colours
blue - sin/a/o/i
white - bel/a/o/i
you can finish up the rest of the colours:
yellow - zholt
green - zelen
grey - siv
pink - rozev
black - crn
brown - kafeav
Question: What is the middle form of the adjective "purple" if its feminine form is "violetova"?
Enjoy in the colors, more on adjectives will follow
