Well done Saint Patricks Athletic in the UEFA Cup!

Postby eurovisionireland on Sat Aug 30, 2008, 12:36

We beat Elfsborg 4-2 on aggregate to get through! I was emotional last Thursday watching my team play a beautiful game of football. We got Hertha Berlin in the next round. ! I am off to Berlin on the 18th of September !

Fahey was immense tonight.

If only the goals in the RDS were 2 inches wider.

Were you at the match? I was there with my scarf roaring for us to score. Fahey was brilliant and Ryan Guy played his heart out. We should have gone through! Hit the cross bar twice, chipped the keeper and denied a peno. Fuckin ref!

Saint Patrick were good and could have done better. But you guys played against Hertha, so even 0-0 is not such a bad result. i know that your league isn't as good as your national team, but you are still doing good. Maybe next year Shelbourne or Cork or St.Patrick will play in the CL group stage. :D

I reckon we could! BATE Borisov, Nicosia and Kaunas alll done well in European competition and their leagues are on par with ours! Macedonian football is on the up as well, well done to the National team! Shelbourne are playing in our second division here but in the next couple of years they could again become adominant force in Irish football

Now, I don't really know how many foreigners you have in your team. That sometimes plays a role (good or bad, depends). Yeah, you are in a level with Belarus, Cyprus, Slovakia just you need to push harder. You were almost in the group stage. Our national team is finally starting to think about qualifying in a big event...On 15 of October, we travel to Iceland and we better win.  Next year I hope our Vardar will qualify in the CL group stage (it is already known that Vardar has the best team in the Macedonian league at the moment).

What other teams are good in Ireland? Shamrock Rovers?

Shamrock Rovers are an average team. We sing songs about them being homeless as they have not stadium of their own and their new stadium is finished but they can't use it because of legal issues (lol!) . The strongest teams in the league are Bohemians, Saint Patricks Athletic, Drogheda United and Cork City whom would all do well in the level below the Premiership i reckon.

Get your facts right. The stadium will be finished in time for next year. You know full well it's Thomas Davis GAA club's fault about the stadium.

Anyway... Rovers will win the league in Tallaght next year. :D

Bohemians will be in the Champions League from Ireland next year, and with their current squad they can make a good run at qualification.

I know full well lol, it's just hilarious watching you moving stadiums. You could well win the league , there is more chance of you winning that than finding a home! Bohs could well win the league but look at the financial mess they have themselves in with the selling of the stadium! Come on the Saints :damnfunny

I forgot about Bohemians. Well, I used to follow the leagues a lot before... now I don't really know who is a CL representative or UEFA Cup representative of any country. Thanks for the info, I hope you do really well next season.

I saw that Shamrock lost from Saint Patricks. When I checked the table, Shamrock was on 7th place. :o I expected better place for this team, that I like (mainly because I guessed it 2 times when I bet on it). I also see that Derry is on the go and will qualify for UEFA most likely. I have a question. Is the Irish championship starting in spring and ends in fall??? :o

It starts in March and ends in November or there abouts and takes a break in Winter. I think its an excellent idea as it means we are in good shape for the European Competitions. I meant to go to the game last Saturday but iwas freezing cold!
